CUSIB’s Tala Dowlatshahi on American perceptions of Iranians

The Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting (CUSIB) Advisory Board member Tala Dowlatshahi shared her views of American perceptions of Iranians in an Reporters Uncensored/Huffington Post article “Iranian Sunset.”

I have been living in neutral Switzerland for a few months now. I must say I am fairly pleased that I am far away from the current media mayhem in the United States and the endlessly repeated claims that war with my country is imminent. This separation, which so far has been far more salutary than the one depicted in the recent Iranian film by the same name, has given me the chance to think about my life in the United States as an Iranian-American and whether I want to carry on with this very tiring relationship. Tala Dowlatshahi is a Senior Adviser and US Representative of Reporters Without Borders (Reporters sans Frontieres)- the Paris-based media watchdog organization. She is also the United Nations Bureau Chief for Talk Radio News Service. Most recently, she launched a web tv program entitled: “Reporters Uncensored.” The program highlights stories across the globe that promote social change. Tala is a New York based producer, reporter and filmmaker. Ms. Dowlatshahi has chronicled stories in Afghanistan, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Rwanda, Tanzania, Turkey, South Africa and Uganda.
