CUSIB Congratulates Michael Lynton on Appointment as Interim Presiding Governor
The Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting (CUSIB) has released the following statement in response to the recent announcement that Michael Lynton will serve as the Interim Presiding Governor of the Broadcasting Board of Governors:
The Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting wishes to extend our best to Michael Lynton who has been selected to fill the vacancy left by Chairman Walter Isaacson at the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
We applaud the BBG’s inclusion in their announcement about Interim Presiding Governor Michael Lynton that the BBG has rededicated itself to pursuing the mission it adopted during the tenure of Chairman Walter Isaacson: “To inform, engage, and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy.”
We expect that this mission includes supporting journalism that promotes media freedom and human rights.  We also expect that this mission calls for greater transparency and accountability by the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
We anticipate that the selection of Interim Presiding Governor Michael Lynton will demonstrate a commitment to the principles and ideals of US taxpayer-funded media programs for international audiences.
The Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting (CUSIB) is an independent, nongovernmental organization which supports free flow of uncensored news from the United States to countries without free media.
