The Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting (CUSIB – www.cusib.org) celebrates the recognition given to the outstanding efforts of two of our Board Members, Jing Zhang and Reggie Littlejohn, recipients of the Visual Artists Guild 2012 Spirit of Tiananmen Awards.
According to Ann Noonan, CUSIB Executive Director, “We are delighted that the Visual Artists Guild has bestowed this year’s Spirit of Tiananmen Award on two of our Board Members, Jing Zhang, President of Women’s Rights in China, and Reggie Littlejohn, President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers. We are proud of the fortitude and courage both of these women demonstrate as they fight on behalf of women in China for the right to bear children.”
Ted Lipien, CUSIB Director and co-founder stated: “Were it not for Reggie Littlejohn and her Voice of America (VOA) interviews and Jing Zhang’s articles, the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) may never have realized the power of VOA radio in China and the impact it has had informing fighters for freedom and human rights like Chen Guangcheng about news that is otherwise censored. We are deeply grateful that the Visual Artists Guild recognized these two women and their achievements.”
On Saturday, June 9th, Jing Zhang, President and Founder of Women’s Rights in China was honored with the Visual Artists Guild Spirit of Tiananmen Award in New York City.
