New York Memorial for Tibetan and Han self-immolation protests to be held at Tibet House
On Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 2pm – 4:30pm the Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting (CUSIB) and Women’s Rights in China (WRIC) will sponsor a Forum to raise awareness about the Tibetan and Han self-immolation protests in response to the PRC’s human rights atrocities. This event will take place at Tibet House, located at 22 West 15th Street, New York, NY 10011.
Event organizers stand in Solidarity with Tibet and hope to increase international attention to the self-immolation incidents, as well as urge the PRC government to end its human rights abuses, to change its punitive policies, to defend the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and to show its respect and kindness to all the ethnic groups.
During this forum, a moment of silence will pay tribute to them, and show condolences to their families and communities.
Speakers will include Tenzin Dolkar, USA Grassroots Director of SFT; Exiled Tiananmen Square Leader Wuer Kaixi, Chen Pokong, Chinese political critic and writer, Ann Noonan, Executive Director CUSIB. A statement by NYS Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz will also be presented.
